Castelfidardo è la patria della fisarmonica e accoglie il bel museo dedicato a questo strumento nel caratteristico centro cittadino adiacente ai giardini del Monumento Nazionale delle Marche. Camerano è nota per la sua pregiata produzione di vino e nasconde nel suo sottosuolo un affascinante intrico di grotte artificiali scavate dal medioevofino allo scorso secolo. Recanati è la città che diede i natali a Giacomo Leopardi. Mare La Riviera, che prende il nome dal verde promontorio del Monte Conero, è l'unico tratto di costa frastagliata del litorale adriatico dove si alterna una costa rocciosa e selvatica ricca di antiche storie e profumi, di grotte e di insenature, di spiaggie segrete e acque cristalline ed una costa con spiagge bianche ed attrezzate. The Cities La Commenda is in the heart of Marche, a region which has many beautiful cities to visit. The first of these is Ancona, a busy centre located on the coast, with a thriving port and many attractions of cultural and historical interest. The “Sanctuary” of Loreto has a magnificent Basilica and has for centuries been a place of worship and pilgrimage. Macerata is a small city protected by magnificent medieval walls and home of one of the most ancient and prestigious universities in Italy. Jesi with its historical monuments of great interest, is an elegant city where many important events are organised each year. The Towns Although we have called them towns to distinguish them from the larger cities in the area, these are veritable gems of history, culture and art where events take place all the year round. The monuments of Osimo span many historical eras: the Cathedral is Romanesque while the walls date to Roman and Medieval times; its elegant Palazzos and a delightful historical centre are a great attraction to tourists. Castelfidardo is the home of the accordion and has a beautiful accordion museum in the town centre close to the gardens of the National Marche Monument. Camerano is famous for its fine wines and conceals an intricate network of artificial caves which were excavated in the Middle Ages through to the last century. Recanati is the birthplace of Giacomo Leopardi. The Sea The Riviera, which takes it name from the grassy green promontory of Mount Conero, is the only jagged section of coastline on the Adriatic coast; here rocky outcrops with their pungent tales of bygone times, caves, secret bays and beaches and crystal clear waters alternate with stretches of well equipped white sandy beaches. In 1987 this natural paradise was declared a Regional Nature Park. As you travel along the coast you will find numerous incredibly suggestive places and localities: one of these is Portonovo a charming verdant bay with an enchanting white stone church; there is also Sirolo a small medieval town perched high above the sea and the elegant ancient Picene port of Numana famous for its Marcelli beaches. The Mountains The Sibilline Mountain range is the closest mountain area. Mountain excursionists are sure to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the mountain scenery. Trekking and mountain bike excursions are available as well as visits to the local farming companies to discover the typical flavours of this land. The National Sibilline Nature Park welcome visitors with its grassy green slopes, forests and incredible variety of flora and fauna such as the wild deer which was recently reintroduced into its natural habitat. The appeal of this land also lies deep under its surface: not to be missed is a visit to the magnificent caves of Frassassi at Genga, considered to be the most beautiful natural caves in the whole of Europe.
